It has been a joy to watch my paintings come to life through the animation process!
Each animal is hand drawn on silk in several positions. Some of the body parts are also painted separately so they can be animated as well.
The animations have three distinct phases. Starting in the night to reveal the initial creature then moving to a time-laps capture of a live painting being created that reveals the daytime landscape the animals inhabit. The actual animation is created through a time consuming process of photographing and virtually cutting out each object then bringing the components into a video editing suite by Jack Bateman.
Each animation is accompanied by a soundscape of the natural world and an original score by composer Christopher Palmer
